The Implementation of Accelerated Learning Technique to Improve Reading Comprehension at The Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Kertajati – Majalengka.

Reading is a way to comprehend the text. It means that students can find information by reading the text well, if students have good reading comprehension ability. As the fact the students were confused to understand the meaning of  words in the text. So, they could not finish all their tasks. Most of them were not actively involved in the learning process, since  most of them learned English less seriously and the atmosphere of the class was boring. Some English teacher still use the traditional setting or technique and it makes students are not active and enjoy in learning process.
To make students enjoy in learning reading especially for narrative text, one of technique which can be implementation is accelerated learning technique. The step of accelerated learning are: Motivating the mind, Acquiring the informations, Searching out the meaning, Triggering the memory, Exhibit what you know, Reflecting how have you learn.  
This study is an experimental research method. The subject of the study was 29 students of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kertajati – Majalengka in academic year 2013/2014. The research instruments are checklist observation and test. They were given two tests, they are pretest (before the treatment) and posttest (after the treatment). The treatment conducted in two meetings. The students were given the treatment by the implementation of accelerated learning technique to improve reading comprehension.
The writer used a quantitative measurement to find the result. The result of the pretest was 55,86 and the posttest was 73,79. The result of the study shows that the posttest better than the pretest. From the calculation of applying the t-test, the mean different between pretest and posttest showed that the t-value (5,31) was higher than the t-table (2,76). It means that there is a significance difference in the students’ reading comprehension before and after the implementation of accelerated learning technique.
Based on the data analysis, the writer concludes that the students’ reading comprehension by implementation of accelerated learning technique is effective for the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kertajati – Majalengka in the academic year 2013/2014 because the technique helps the students solve their problems in reading comprehension. The writer suggests for English teachers to use this technique to improve students’ reading comprehension. Then for the next researchers, they must conduct deeper research by developing all various kinds of the technique in teaching English.
